| Operations Supervisor-Smelter Vale Inco Limited - Manitoba Operations in Thompson, Manitoba is a fully integrated mining, milling, smelting and refining facility producing more than 100 million pounds of plating grade nickel annually. We also produce copper, cobalt and other metals for use by industry. The Operations Supervisor-Smelter will successfully lead a team to meet the goals and objectives established by the Smelter Superintendent. The operations Supervisor is accountable to maintain a safe work environment through operator training, plant housekeeping, personal safety activities, and up keep of equipment. Achieving daily production targets, manpower scheduling, coordinating equipment preparation and availability for maintenance work, and ensure open communication with all stakeholders to ensure an efficient operation. Position Requirements: • 10 years work experience in an industrial operations environment (i.e. Mining, Lumber/Pulp and Paper, Mining, Oil and Gas, Auto Assembly, etc.) • 3-5 years of supervisory experience preferably in a unionized environment • Working knowledge of Safety Systems and Accountability for Safety • Responsible for meeting or exceeding production targets • Managing a crew of 10 – 15 employees • Working knowledge of operating/maintenance systems • Understanding of operational cost structures and budget systems Education/Certification Requirements: • High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement) • Technical Diploma in a Chemical or Metallurgical field • Engineering Diploma in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering field • Engineer in training with 2 - 4 years work experience Apply To: valeinco.appone.com | |
