| Industry Advocate Manufacturer Association Winnipeg Job 02gc1001 Trade Champion Industry advocate The Organization: Canada’s largest trade and industry association, the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) promotes the continuous improvement of Canadian manufacturing and exporting through engagement of government at all levels. Its mandate is to promote the competitiveness of Canadian manufacturers and enable the success of Canadian goods and services exporters in markets around the world. Representing Canada’s largest business network, CME’s membership is drawn from all sectors of Canada’s manufacturing and exporting community and from every province across the country. The association represents Canada’s leading global enterprises and more than 85% of CME’s members are small and medium-sized enterprises. The Opportunity: The Manitoba Chapter of the CME is seeking an individual with the skills, network and experience to promote and encourage awareness of the benefits of local and global trade, as well as the development of competencies required to expand trade. The Trade Champion will focus on Manitoba manufacturers and exporters, specifically on Manitoba SMEs, to coordinate trade information and support available from CME, federal and provincial governments, educational institutes, local service providers and focus groups or clusters. The Position: Reporting directly to the CME Vice President – Manitoba, the incumbent will build awareness of trading opportunities and the capabilities to carry out trade globally, build consortia or a network of companies focused on trade, trade training and trade readiness assessments. Duties include: • Supporting companies, particularly SMEs to develop their strategy and capability with respect to trade and supply chain management and development • Facilitate and support the development and delivery of trade training • Educate and build skill sets within manufacturing companies • Partner and communicate with the Manitoba and Federal Government and service providers to ensure trading needs are identified and addressed • Support the development, maintenance and growth of a trade network consortium in Manitoba • Assist in developing and mentoring companies to become trade proficient • Represent CME Manitoba at events within and outside of Manitoba • Regular reporting and attendance at CME meetings Selection Criteria • High School Diploma is required, related post secondary diploma or degree a definite asset • 10 years experience in a manufacturing business development/trade management role • Ability to link manufacturers with resources in support of potential trade opportunities • Ability to work closely with key organizations involved in facilitating trade/export such as CentrePort • Must have strong English communication skills, both written and spoken • Market evaluation and intelligence experience • Involvement in private business development at a strategic, company-wide level • Strong collaborative skills and strong related network NOTE: There is no relocation budget For more information or to apply to this position please go to: | |
