Geologist – Mines Exploration provides geological services within the mine to facilitate effective exploration, delineation, development and optimized recoveries of production mining. Geological information is obtained through underground mapping, diamond drilling, and the interpretative skills of the Geologist. They will ensure that all underground mine openings are mapped and plotted, collect rock mechanics data and maintain up to date geological interpretations using all geological / geotechnical information available. They will participate with Operating and Engineering staff in mine planning. They are to direct mining personnel in certain mining situations and ensure that all ore is available for mining and proposes new areas for mining by interpreting geology and grade of ore body for mining suitability. They will monitor ore extraction and be required to plan, coordinate and administer diamond-drilling programs. They will be held accountable for MRMR Resource / Reserve updating, geostatistical orebody modeling and validation within areas of responsibility. They will effectively schedule, prioritize and manage tasks for a given complex of the mine with minimal supervision.

This role reports directly to Senior and/or Mine Geologist.

Position Requirements:
• Knowledge of mines exploration and mines operations
• Working knowledge of Datamine and/or Gem Com and/or other geological modeling software
• Computer skills including the software outlook, word, excel, ellipse

Education/Experience:
• University degree in the discipline of Geology or Geological Engineering
• 5+ years experience in production and exploration
• 2+ years experience in a producing underground mine

Licensed/Professional Requirements:
• Eligible to be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geologists of Manitoba (APEGM)
