The Organization
Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation, a self-sustaining federal Crown Corporation created in 1969, is the buyer, processor and marketer of freshwater fish from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Northwest Territories, and part of northwestern Ontario. The Corporation’s mandate is: to purchase all fish caught and offered for sale; to create an orderly market; to promote international markets; to increase fish trade; and to increase returns to fishers.

We are looking for a Facilities Manager with food processing or highly regulated manufacturing experience. This is a potential step-up opportunity for a Facilities Supervisor from a large manufacturing or processing facility. Role and Responsibilities
Based in Winnipeg and reporting to the Plant Manager, the Facilities Manager bears overall responsibility for facilities management including capital projects and engineering at the Winnipeg processing plant and office complex. A member of the plant management team, the Facilities Manager supervises all activities of the Maintenance and Engineering Departments as well as developing and maintaining policies and procedures to provide a safe, comfortable and effective working environment.

Key priorities include:
• Responsibility for all physical plant facilities, systems, and equipment;
• Identify and monitor issues as they arise and implement solutions;
• Preparation of Engineering and Maintenance Department operating budgets;
• Project supervision, scheduling and overall responsibility for both small and major capital projects;
• Recommendations for capital budgets, control expenditures within approved budgets;
• Ongoing participation in and support of the Processing Operating System;
• Manage Maintenance KPI expectations, environmental and energy initiatives;
• Mentor and supervise the activities of technical and administrative staff with approximately 9 direct reports and 16 indirect reports as well as external service providers; and
• Ensure safety compliance for buildings, equipment and staff.

Selection Criteria – Technical Competencies
• B.Sc. in Engineering, and a Canadian P.Eng;
• 5 years management experience and minimum 5 years maintenance experience ideally in a food processing plant, but will consider a highly regulated large industrial or manufacturing environment;
• Maintenance experience will ideally include: preventative maintenance, powerhouse, facilities, equipment, machinery, PLC controls in a lean manufacturing environment;
• Extensive experience maintaining & managing building services/systems using contractors & staff;
• Proven knowledge of building & fire codes, health & safety standards;
• Demonstrated understanding of fiscal management principles including interpretation of financial statements, budget planning and variance control;
• Demonstrated strong computer skills (systems, ERP, AutoCAD & MS Office) JD Edwards an asset;
• Experience with WHMIS, Health & Safety; PMP and HACCP an asset;
• Experience with quality improvement and risk management processes an asset;
• Proven leadership and people management skills in a high paced, multicultural environment; and
• A self-motivated and results-oriented team player with strong people skills.
